Staten Island is by far the least populated borough of the city (470,467), but is the third largest by area at 58 square miles. The population, however, is growing and has seen a 5.6% increase since 2000. The demographics of Staten Island is different from every other borough because it is the only area with a White majority. In 1990, the population was 80% White but as of the last Census it was 64% White. The next largest demography is 17.3% Hispanic followed by African-American at 10.6%.
